STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES
Student Support Services at Gander Academy consist of a team of special education teachers who are responsible for the delivery of services to students with exceptionalities. The goal is to help each child at Gander Academy attain his/her full potential. Services may be offered to students with specific learning disabilities, global developmental or cognitive delay, health or neurological concerns and students who demonstrate delayed development in a particular skill area.

Individual assessments are required before services can be put in place and parental consent is required in order for assessment and interventions to occur. A pathways delivery model is used with an Individual Support Services Plan (ISSP) being developed for each student receiving support. Parents are an important part of the ISSP process thus every effort is made to involve parents in all aspects of their child's programming needs.
Further information on Pathways, the ISSP process and other Student Support Services can be found at the Department of Education's Internet link: www.gov.nf.ca/edu/dept/sss.htm.
